I’m so excited!  After haunting ebay for weeks, I finally pulled the trigger and purchased two authentic silkscreened Cuban film posters for the living room.  Yay!!  I LOVE THEM!!  I can’t wait for them to get here!!

Wondercabinet’s curiosities

Today while exploring Etsy with their Geolocator tool (an awesome way to find locally-made product by the way), I discovered Wondercabinet’s shop filled with all sorts of magical creatures. Considering the fact that she’s been featured on several blogs before, I’m shocked that I’ve missed her work up to this point. (What rock have I been hiding under?!)

Her prints [done on old book pages] remind me of something discovered in a mad scientist’s laboratory. (Which is probably why I love them.) These particular ones are from her BEASTIARIUM series, and feature animal hybrids…such as a Half rabbit – half jellyfish…or part fox – part bird. At any rate, they make me want to be a kid again…and pretend. And that’s what makes them so great.

So head over to Wondercabinet’s shop and purchase some prints! They’re only $29 each. She also has a blog so make sure to check that out too.

Marc Tetro Animal Prints

While in Maine several weeks ago, I discovered a great little store with prints by Marc Tetro. As it turns out, I’m a sucker for all things dog-related. (Well, okay, not ALL things.  I am actually quite choosy when it comes to “doggie decorations.” For example, it boggles my mind how this item could be SOLD OUT at Wisteria. There are THAT many people that want it?)

Anyways, it was with great excitement that I discovered Marc’s prints because they’re fun, graphic, and affordably priced. The Boston terrier chasing the vacuum is the one I purchased as my memento from Maine…but there are a ton of other great ones at his online store.  He also does self-framed canvas giclee prints, but personally I think the ones done on cardstock to be framed are a little nicer…

Loving Etsy Linocuts & Paper cutouts

Linocut collage

Etsy never ceases to amaze me in all the wonderful things you can find there.  People are so creative.  And the fact that you can buy artwork directly from an artist just makes me happy that there are still ways to interact with people on a small level.  These four pieces have been in my favorites for the last week, and seeing as how I’m trying budget myself on acquiring new wall decor…I thought I’d pass along the joy to the rest of you.  Sooo cute.

(From Left to right):  1. “The House Next Door” by Leannegraeff, 2. “Carolina Chickadee” by melissakate, 3. “Girl Papercut” by elsita, 4. “Formal Squirrel” by MisNopalesArt.

Art Star Craft Bazaar: Now taking applications for 2008

Art Star Craft Bazaar

Art Star is now taking applications for the 2008 Craft Bazaar that is being held at Penn’s Landing on Saturday May 31st (from 11-7pm) and Sunday June 1st (from 11-5pm).

This is definitely one of my favorite local things because of the amount of wonderful (and affordable!) art & crafty stuff you can find there.  Last year I wanted to buy one of everything, but finally edited my purchases to one little cup by Little Flower designs & a paint by numbers at someone’s yard sale down the street.   If you haven’t been to one of these, you definitely must go this year.
